The cove beneath the cliffs
Platja Fonda — literally "deep beach" — hides at the foot of tall green cliffs just south of Aiguablava. Its darker, coarse sand and steep drop-off give the water an inky, dramatic blue. A long stairway is the only way down on foot, which is exactly why it feels so untouched from the sea.
A first swim to remember
We anchor off the mouth for a deep-water swim where the cliffs plunge straight in. The rocky edges on either side are good for a first snorkel, and the wall of green behind the beach makes one of the best photographs of the whole day.
